'Since 7th grade, I've wanted to do something with cats. Never in my life did I think something like this would happen.'

TRACK-1

THE OWNERS AND STAFF OF CAT HAVEN IN CENTRAL CALIFORNIA SAY THEY'RE DEVASTATED, AS NEW DETAILS EMERGE ABOUT THE DEATH OF A 24-YEAR-OLD INTERN.

THE FRESNO COUNTY CORONER SAYS A LION ESCAPED FROM A FEEDING CAGE, BEFORE IT KILLED DIANNA HANSON.

HE SAYS HANSON DIED INSTANTLY WHEN THE 550-POUND LION BROKE HER NECK, APPARENTLY WITH A SWIPE OF A PAW.

HANSON WAS CLEANING A LARGER ENCLOSED AREA AT THE TIME, AND INVESTIGATORS BELIEVE THE LION USED ITS PAW TO PARTIALLY OPEN A DOOR THAT SHOULD HAVE KEPT IT INSIDE.

THE LION WAS KILLED SHORTLY AFTERWARDS.

STAFF-MEMBERS ARE REMEMBERING HANSON'S LOVE OF LIFE, AND OF BIG CATS.

SOUNDBITE: Wendy Debbas/President, Project Survival

'She loved her work, she loved big cats. She had cats in her past and now cats in her life.'

TRACK-2

HANSON'S FATHER ECHOED THAT THOUGHT.

SOUNDBITE: Paul Hanson/Father of Dianna Hanson

'Dianna died living her dream. She was never happier than in the last two months.'

TRACK-3

CAT HAVEN'S OWNER SAS THE FACILITY HAD BEEN INCIDENT-FREE SINCE IT OPENED IN 19-98.

STATE INVESTIGATORS ARE TRYING TO DETERMINE IF SHE WAS DOING SOMETHING THAT PLACED HER IN DANGER, AND IF CAT HAVEN'S STAFF WAS PROPERLY INSTRUCTED ABOUT POTENTIAL DANGERS.
