The Boeing 787 will be back in the spotlight Thursday when the National Transportation Safety Board releases an early report on the fire aboard a plane in Boston in January.

At 11 a.m. EST, the NTSB will release the information it has gathered so far, though it says that it will include no analysis of the problem.

The NTSB is investigating the Jan. 7 fire aboard a parked Japan Airlines flights. That incident was followed nine days later by a smoldering battery on a All Nippon Airways flight, which forced an emergency landing. That second incident prompted Japanese airlines to stop flying the plane. The Federal Aviation Administration and authorities then grounded the plane.

Boeing has proposed a fix for the batteries, but the FAA must approve it before the 787 takes to the air again.

Shares of Boeing Co., based in Chicago, have been resilient despite the headlines. They closed on Wednesday at $79.08, above their close of $77.69 before the fire. Boeing shares rose 69 cents to $79.77 in premarket trading.
