TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — A defense contractor says it is bringing more than 1,000 aerospace jobs to the state.

Northrop Grumman Corp. announced on Wednesday that it is going to add jobs at facilities in St. Augustine and Melbourne.

The Melbourne facility will focus on aircraft design and will include work now being done at a facility in New York. The St. Augustine facility will also focus on aircraft design.

The company is also shifting work on unmanned systems from Melbourne to San Diego but a company spokesman said that the net increase of jobs will still exceed 1,000.

Gov. Rick Scott praised the contractor's decision to expand its operations in the state.
