A suspected arsonist has bitten off more than he could chew after allegedly using a tyre to torch the office of a Brisbane City councillor.
The man broke into the Cannon Hill office of Councillor Ryan Murphy about 3am (AEST) and set it alight.
A tyre was used in the attack but police could not confirm reports it was set alight and rolled inside the office.
The man was interrupted in his alleged arson attempt by a police officer patrolling the Cannon Hill shopping centre with a dog.
The officer attempted to arrest the man and when he resisted, the dog bit the man on the calf and bottom.
The man was treated in hospital and charges will be laid on Tuesday morning, police said.
