Elderly woman injured in Moree bag snatch

An elderly woman has been dragged several metres along the pavement after a man grabbed her handbag in northwestern NSW.

The woman, 71, was walking along Alice Street, Moree, with her sister, 74, and a female friend, 64, when a man stole her handbag on Saturday afternoon.

The man pulled the woman to the ground and dragged her a number of metres before running off with the bag.

The woman suffered grazing to her forehead, nose, and arms.

Police are now hunting the man, who is described as of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, 20-30 years old, with a slim to medium build and about 165cm tall.

He has short black or brown scruffy wavy hair, and a moustache or goatee.
