A female Queensland police officer has allegedly been struck in the face with a torch, leaving her with a suspected broken nose.

The constable was responding to a disturbance at Doomadgee in northwest Queensland around midnight (AEST) on Sunday, when a 52-year-old man allegedly struck her in the face.

She will be treated at Mount Isa Hospital, 500 kilometres away.

The man has been charged with seriously assaulting a police officer and will appear in Doomadgee Magistrates Court on March 7.
