Stoch wins ski jump at worlds for 1st major medal

VAL DI FIEMME, Italy (AP) — Kamil Stoch of Poland claimed the first major medal of his career with victory in the individual large hill ski jump at the Nordic world championships on Thursday.
Two near-perfect jumps of 131.5 meters and 130 gave Stoch a total of 295.8 points, 6.1 points more than nearest challenger Peter Prevc, who won bronze on the normal hill on Saturday.
Anders Jacobsen of Norway was third, just 0.6 points behind the Slovenian.
Austria's Wolfgang Loitzl produced a second-round jump of 132.5, but finished fourth.
It is Poland's first medal of this year's championships.
