MILAN (AP) — Out of contract since the preseason, Norwegian forward John Carew has a chance to join Inter Milan.
Inter president Massimo Moratti says Carew will undergo medical tests Wednesday, "then he'll be on trial for two weeks, then we'll decide."
The 33-year-old Carew left Premier League club West Ham before the season and Inter is seeking a forward to replace Diego Milito, who was recently ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.
The Gazzetta dello Sport reports Inter is prepared to offer Carew a €300,000 ($390,000) contract.
Carew previously played in Italy with Roma in 2003-04 on loan. He has scored 24 goals in 91 appearances for Norway.
