McGowan promises to reduce hospital waiting lists

The State Opposition has promised to spend $45 million over three years to bring down WA's hospital waiting list.

The Labor leader Mark McGowan says the money would pay for an extra 8,300 elective surgeries and 200 nurses.

Mr McGowan says current waiting times are unacceptable.

"At present, 16 per cent of people with urgent cases, that is urgent cases, life threatening, are not receiving their operations within the clinically recommended time," he said.

"That obviously has to change, that is a lot of people."
