Builders welcome crown land releases for housing
The Master Builders Association has welcomed a Northern Territory Government decision to release more land for housing development.
Housing Minister Dave Tollner next week will call for expressions of interest from the private sector the construction of hundreds of homes.
The Government plans to release crown land for housing in Darwin, Alice Springs, Katherine and Tennant Creek.
The aim is to build about 2,000 homes over the next four years.
Master Builders Association NT executive director Graham Kemp expects considerable interest from investors and developers.
"We are starting to see general housing construction increase," he said.
"Residential builders are quite bullish about where the market is going."
Industry briefings about the project will be held in Darwin on February 28, Alice Springs on March 4, Tennant Creek on March 5, and Katherine on March 6.
