Northern Territory Police are investigating the second suspicious death at Alice Springs in two days.

The body of a man was found in bushland about two kilometres north of Alice Springs on the Stuart Highway.

It was discovered last night, just metres from the edge of the road.

Investigators are on the scene.

Yesterday, the body of a 25-year old Aboriginal woman was found in scrubland near the Larapinta Valley town camp on the other side of the Red Centre town.

A 27-year old man has been arrested in relation to that death.

A report by the Australian Institute of Criminology this week revealed that the Territory has the highest murder rate in the nation.
