City of Perth provides chance for mobile food vendors

The City of Perth will review its public trading laws to make it easier for mobile food trucks to operate in the CBD.

The Council currently prohibits mobile food vendors unless they are part of an event, to avoid conflict with existing businesses.

Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi says there is less opposition to the proposal from city restaurant owners than a few years ago.

"I think there's been a greater acceptance of the need to change in 2013 based on the sheer population growth and the huge demand that exists," she said.

"We see this as an opportunity to help incubate small business opportunities with a focus on allowing them to co-exist well with the established businesses in our city area."
