One of Australia's big pastoral companies says recent rain in parts of western Queensland has not been enough to deliver significant benefits to its Channel Country properties.

Ninety-two millimetres of rain fell at Muttaburra in the 24 hours to 9:00am (AEST) yesterday and 84mm at Longreach, while there were also storms in the south-west over the weekend.

Kidman and Co spokesman Greg Campbell says the storms were narrow and there is still a need for more widespread rain if there is to be a break in the season.

"We haven't had much moisture at all over the inland over the summer, so it's good to see that happening," he said.

"There is a big monsoonal shake-up coming early in March and a lot of us are watching to see what that brings and where some more general rain might land.

"But at the moment it's been storms around the place, so far for our situation, they haven't been of much consequence."
