Family and friends of murdered woman Shandee Blackburn paid tribute to her during a funeral service yesterday in Mackay in north Queensland.
Hundreds of mourners packed the Newhaven Chapel in North Mackay yesterday to say goodbye to the 23-year-old.
Ms Blackburn was attacked just metres from her home on Boddington Street 11 days ago.
Family friend Bruce Elliott spoke of Shandee's mischievous yet loving nature and how she would be deeply missed.
"We have to be proud and happy that Shandee lived her life to the beat of the Shandee drum - she'll be missed forever," he said.
Twenty-three balloons were later released at Ms Blackburn's burial site to commemorate each year of her life.
Police are yet to charge anyone over the attack and are appealing to anyone who may have information to come forward.
