DOZENS ARE DEAD....AND MANY MORE HAVE BEEN INJURED...AFTER A BOMB HIDDEN IN A WATER TANK.....EXPLODED IN A VEGETABLE MARKET IN SOUTHWESTERN PAKISTAN.

THE BLAST OCCURRED IN A MOSTLY -SHIITE NEIGHBORHOOD.

A LOCAL TELEVISION STATION REPORTED THAT A SUNNI EXTREMIST GROUP THAT HAD TARGETED MINORITY SHIITES IN THE PAST....CALLED IN TO CLAIM RESPONSIBILITY.

SOUNDBITE (English) Hussain Ali, lost relative in bombing:

It happened, like, I was there, you know, I did rush for helping. But there's too many people dead and too many people injured.

PAKISTANI TELEVISION SHOWED IMAGES OF VOLUNTEERS AND OTHERS COMBING THROUGH RUBBLE....SEARCHING FOR THE DEAD AND INJURED.

INSIDE A LOCAL HOSPITAL......A SCENE OF CHAOS......AS MEN IN UNIFORM TRIED TO MAINTAIN ORDER.

SATURDAY'S ATTACK WAS THE WORST IN THIS CITY SINCE A SERIES OF BOMBINGS KILLED 86 PEOPLE....MOSTLY MINORITY SHIITES.

THAT ATTACK LED TO PROTESTS THAT TOPPLED THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT.

THE CITY'S POLICE CHIEF SAID THAT NOT ONLY DID SATURDAY'S BLAST DESTROY SHOPS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD....BUT ALSO CAUSED A TWO STORY BUILDING TO COLLAPSE.
