Sport doping forum

Tasmanian sporting organisations are being invited to join a forum on doping following the Australian Crime Commission's wide-ranging report on the issue.

Sports Minister Michelle O'Byrne said a date is yet to be decided for the forum aimed at keeping the state free from performing enhancing drugs.

But Ms O'Byrne said it would be naive to think doping in sport was not an issue in Tasmania.

"I don't believe it is wide spread, I think the vast majority of Tasmanian sports people, and the clubs, the officials and the volunteers who support do the right thing everyday," she said.

"But we need to make sure that those athletes on that trajectory are given the right information about how to play the most ethical brand of sport that they can."
