All watch-and-act alerts in Victoria have been downgraded after firefighters tackled a number of blazes across the state.

Earlier, the Country Fire Authority (CFA) issued an alert for an out-of-control bushfire at Powers Creek, in the state's far west, which was travelling in a south-westerly direction towards the Dergholm-Edenhope Road.

Alerts were also issued for the Kariah area, north west of Colac, and the Barongarook, Irrewillipe and surrounding areas, south of Colac.

All watch-and-act alerts were downgraded to advice status by 9:00pm (AEDT).
