Tasmania has won more accolades than ever before at the Australian tourism awards in Hobart.

Pennicott's Wilderness journeys performed better than any other tourism venture in the history of the national awards.

The eco-adventure business that operates cruises around Bruny and Tasman Islands won the award for excellence in sustainable tourism, ecotourism and tourist attractions.

The Maria Island walk on the state's east coast won the award for adventure tourism while the Rocky Hills retreat was named best unique accommodation.

The Chief Executive of the Tourism Industry Council, Luke Martin, said it is an extraordinary achievement.

"We achieved an unprecedented record haul last year and we bettered it, which is a remarkable achievement," he said.

Tourism developer Simon Currant won the award for the most outstanding contribution by an individual.
