The former site of Queensland's Society for Crippled Children in Brisbane's west is going on the market.

The 3.7 hectare parcel of riverfront land at Corinda has been rezoned for 34 individual residential allotments.

Montrose Access chief executive officer Darrel Bourke says when established 80 years ago the home provided accommodation, education and care for 90 children, complete with vegetable gardens, chickens and a milking cow.

But he says times have changed.

"Today we have in excess of 600 clients and we provide those services principally in the clients' homes and in the schools," he said.

The organisation plans to relocate to nearby Darra to cater for growth in the south-west corridor providing services to Queensland children and young adults with physical disabilities.
