VOICE-OVER SCRIPT:

A SEN BERNADINO COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT SPOKESWOMAN NOW SAYS THAT HUMAN REMAINS WERE FOUND INSIDE A BURNED OUT CABIN, WHERE IT'S BELIEVED FUGITIVE EX-POLICE OFFICER CHRISTOPHER DORNER ENGAGED IN A SHOOTOUT WITH POLICE.

INVESTIGATORS WILL USE FORENSIC TESTS TO DETERMINE IF THE BODY IS DORNER'S.

OFFICERS WERE AT FIRST UNABLE TO ENTER THE CABIN, AFTER IT BURNED DOWN ON TUESDAY.

SOUNDBITE: SOUNDBITE: Cindy Bachman / San Bernadino County Sheriff's Dept. Spokeswoman

I'm telling you that the investigators have not been inside, because it's not safe for them. They believe there's live ammunition in there and the building is still smouldering and too hot to enter and they're not going to do it.

SOUNDBITE: JAMES RILEY / RESIDENT

"I have no idea if he's alive or not. I just want to get home. It's going to be cold tonight."

SOUNDBITE: SAMUEL GODINES / RESIDENT

"We was really scared. Since this happened I wake up every day like 3 or 4 or 6 times a night. Looking out the windows, looking for my gun, checking that I have bullets, you know. To be prepared."

THOUSANDS OF OFFICERS HAVE BEEN HUNTING FOR DORNER.

THE FORMER POLICE OFFICER AND NAVY RESERVIST HAD THREATENED TO BRING WARFARE TO LOS ANGELES POLICE AND THEIR FAMILIES, IN REVENGE FOR HIS 20-08 FIRING.
