Businesses on southern Queensland's Fraser Coast affected by recent floods want the council to waive rates to help them get back on their feet.

More than 100 businesses in Hervey Bay and Maryborough were inundated by the floodwaters, which devastated the region two weeks ago.

The Maryborough Marina was one of the hardest hit, with the two-and-a-half-storey building completely submerged.

Owner Neville Ford says it is another blow businesses did not need after the 2011 floods.

He is calling on the council to do more and waive rates.

"When businesses suffer a setback like this that's the time council should step up and make some sort of offer to business owners," he said.

Fraser Coast Mayor Gerard O'Connell says the council is doing all it can to help flooded business but it is a big ask to waive rates.
