Tasmania could face tougher regulations on sports doping as a result of the performance enhancing drugs scandal.

The State Government has announced it supports tougher laws and regulations to protect local sportsmen and women.

The Sports Minister Michelle O'Byrne says the Australian Crime Commission's findings mean it is likely that Federal and State laws will need to be examined.

Ms O'Byrne says she wants to close any legal loopholes.

"Tasmania's already made sure that the Commonwealth is aware that we stand ready," he said.

Meanwhile, Cricket Tasmania is reviewing its drug education and monitoring programs.

The Chief Executive David Johnston says the review will look at whether there are any gaps.

"To make sure that we continue to be on top of this menace," he said.

It is not yet known how long the review will take.
