Man jailed over backpack cannabis stash

A 40-year-old man has been sentenced to two years in jail after pleading guilty in the Supreme Court in Cairns, in far north Queensland, to drug trafficking.

The court heard police found a backpack containing 299 grams of cannabis in Darin Mark Marshall's car during an operation in November 2011.

A bag of 82 caffeine pills Marshall mistakenly believed to be ecstasy were also found.

Marshall will be eligible for parole in June.
