ACT Liberals to elect new leader
ACT Liberals are set to elect a new opposition leader on Monday following Zed Seselja resignation to seek preselection for a Senate tilt.
The eight-member caucus will meet at 12.30pm on Monday to elect a new leader and deputy.
Mr Seselja, 35, who has led the Canberra Liberals at the past two ACT elections, is challenging ACT Senator Gary Humphries for party preselection.
Alistair Coe, 29, is likely to take the party's reigns at territory level and Brendan Smyth will retain his deputy role, the Canberra Times reports.
Mr Seselja secured the numbers for preselection by doing a deal with Mr Coe, the paper reports.
Opposition health spokesman Jeremy Hanson had also been in the running.
Preselection for the ACT Liberal Senate ticket is on February 23.
