A man's leg has been severed after his motorbike and a utility collided in far north NSW.

The 20-year-old man was riding his motorcycle along Sandilands Street in Bonalbo, east of Lismore, about 7.30pm (AEDT) on Saturday when he hit a utility which was turning right, police say.

His left leg was severed at the knee and he suffered a fractured pelvis.

The man was flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane where he is reported to be in a stable condition.
