Police are looking for two intruders who punched an elderly man in the face during a robbery in southern NSW.
The 88-year-old and his 79-year-old wife were sleeping in separate bedrooms at their Warrawong home in the Illawarra, when two men climbed through a rear window on Sunday morning, police say.
The offenders woke the elderly man and demanded money before punching him in the face.
The man's wife was also pushed out of the way by the intruders, who fled the scene empty-handed.
Police said the injured couple were badly shaken but did not require medical help.
Local detectives are now appealing for public assistance to help find the men, who are described as possibly of Caucasian appearance, 168cm tall with black hair and wearing dark-coloured clothes.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or suspicious activity in the vicinity of Jane Avenue in Warrawong are being urged to contact Lake Illawarra police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
