A toddler is believed to have started a fire which caused significant damage to a Mandurah home.

Three year old starts fire in family home

A three-year-old child is believed to have accidentally started a $50,000 house fire in Mandurah.

Emergency crews were called to the home on Wyeree Street at 8:00 on Sunday morning.

It took 10 firefighters about 15 minutes to contain the blaze.

One bedroom has been destroyed, the rest of the house received smoke damage.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has not yet revealed exactly how the child started the fire.
