FILE - In this Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, file photo, the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is revealed at media previews for the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Maybe it was the brand new, bright red Chevrolet Corvette gleaming in one corner, or the elegant BMW coupe in the other, but car companies were positively giddy this week as the North American International Auto Show opened in Detroit. U.S. new car and truck sales reached a five-year high of 14.5 million in 2012, and many executives and analysts think they'll climb to 15.5 million this year. (AP Photo/Paul Sancya, file)

German automaker Volkswagen AG says its 2012 group sales hit a record high as growing demand around the world more than offset sluggish sales in Europe. It says Monday Jan. 14, 2013 that more than nine million vehicles were delivered for the first time. The total of 9.07 million was up 11.2 percent from the 8.16 million delivered in 2011. Officer hurt in Sydney arrest
A police officer has been injured while arresting a man at a railway station in Sydney's west.
The officer suffered a fractured wrist after he arrested the 35-year-old man who was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant at Campbelltown Railway Station on Saturday night.
The 35-year-old allegedly ran from police but was stopped a short distance away with the help of a member of the public.
He suffered a cut to his forehead and was taken to Campbelltown Hospital, while the officer was treated at the same hospital for two fractures to his wrist.
The 35-year-old was charged with the outstanding warrant, escape lawful custody and resist police.
He is expected to appear at Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday.
