Police are investigating the abduction of a man in far north Queensland.

Little has been revealed about the nature of the crime but police say the 35-year-old victim was found about 5am (AEST) at a home in Cairns.

He sustained non-life threatening injuries to his face, hand, leg and knee, which required hospital treatment.

Cairns police Sergeant Cary Coolican said no more details about the crime could be released because it could jeopardise investigations.

Detectives spent Friday morning interviewing witnesses.
