Boy critical after teen driver hits pole

A 14-year-old boy is in a critical condition after a teen driver crashed a stolen car into a power pole in north Queensland.

The driver, 16, suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash in suburban Townsville early on Friday.

Another passenger, a boy aged 13, was found near the scene but was not hurt.

The 14-year-old passenger was taken to the Townsville hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

The driver and the 13-year-old boy are currently assisting police with their investigations.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the crash.
