A 45-year-old woman from Barmera in the Riverland has been charged with arson and murder over a man's death in a fire last August.

South Australian police said the arrest related to a fire in a house in Langdon Terrace in which a 67-year-old man died.

Beverly Dalziel faced the Magistrates Court at Berri.

Her lawyer did not apply for bail but told the court the accused intended seeking home detention bail once a landline telephone had been connected at her home address.

Prosecutors said they were not opposed to the application but agreed a landline had to be installed.

Dalziel was remanded in custody.
