Brett Peter Cowan has been committed to stand trial for the abduction, assault and murder of Sunshine Coast teen Daniel Morcombe.

Daniel, 13, disappeared from a Sunshine Coast bus stop in 2003.

His remains were found in dense bushland last year.

Cowan, 42, today appeared in a Brisbane court for a committal hearing.

He is charged with murder, child stealing, deprivation of liberty, indecent treatment of a child and interfering with a corpse.

Cowan has been committed to stand trial and has not applied for bail or entered a plea.

When asked by the magistrate if he had anything to add, Cowan said "no".

More to come.
