A woman injured in a police pursuit in the Gold Coast hinterland will be paid $9.5 million.
Susan Delaney suffered severe brain injuries when a motorcycle driven by her boyfriend crashed on a mountain road after a 40-kilometre, high-speed pursuit in 2006.
Ms Delaney's boyfriend, a member of the Odin's Warriors outlaw motorcycle gang, was killed in the crash.
The Supreme Court has approved a settlement that will provide for Ms Delaney's ongoing care.
Her lawyer, Colin Patino, says his client requires constant supervision and help with day-to-day tasks.
"When you have somebody so seriously injured, the key to the claim is the cost of their future care and what that costs with the regime of care that Susan requires, that's really why the compensation figure is as large as it is," he said.
He says the settlement is a huge relief to his clients.
"It's been a long, hard battle for them and in particular Susan's mother Joan, who has really done a fantastic job in looking after her daughter as best she can after some pretty terrible circumstances," he said.
