Two men who allegedly murdered a man whose charred remains were found in the boot of a burnt-out car in Darwin have appeared briefly in court.

Gregory John Channing and Gary Stewart Miles, who are accused of killing 46-year-old Paul John Stamp, appeared before magistrate Daynor Trigg in the Darwin court.

Mr Stamp's charred remains were found in the burnt-out car in September last year.

He had only been in Darwin eight days before he was killed.

In court on Wednesday, representatives of both defendants sought an adjournment because the brief of evidence had only recently been delivered to them.

Channing and Miles are due to re-appear on February 13.

They both face a string of charges including murder, arson and depriving a person of liberty.
