Northern Territory Police have seized a taxi after the driver allegedly took alcohol into a restricted area of Alice Springs.

Police say the taxi left a local drive-through bottle shop and drove to Hidden Valley town camp yesterday afternoon.

The 52-year-old driver has been charged with bringing liquor into a restricted area.

He will appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court next month.
