A West Australian police officer charged with dangerous driving causing the death of a 50-year-old woman will face the District Court.

Sharon D'Ercole died and her 16-year-old daughter, Lashay, was seriously injured when a police car crashed into her car at Dianella in April last year.

The police car was allegedly chasing a stolen Audi.

The policeman, who cannot be named, appeared briefly in the Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday.

The matter was committed to the District Court where the officer will make his first appearance on April 26.

Flanked by other policemen, the accused walked out of the building and straight to a waiting car.
