A 20-year-old man who was facing charges of attempted murder has had the case against him withdrawn.
Police had alleged Daniel Grazier was a passenger in a car being driven by his girlfriend in November last year when he grabbed the steering wheel, sending the car off an embankment and into the Collie River.
His lawyer had previously argued Mr Grazier grabbed the wheel of the car after his partner took her hands off the wheel in protest while the pair was arguing.
A court had also been told he dived into the Collie River in an effort to rescue his girlfriend from the submerged car.
The charges against Mr Grazier were withdrawn by police in the Perth Supreme Court yesterday.
