Craig Williams will make a flying visit to Sydney on Tuesday to partner internationally performed mare Ortensia in a barrier trial.

Trainer Paul Messara confirmed the triple Group One winner would step out in a heat at Rosehill ahead of a likely first-up clash with Black Caviar in next month's Lightning Stakes.

"Trialling next Tuesday at Rosehill. C Williams up to ride," Messara said in a tweet.

Ortensia has won Group One races in three countries and is one of a trio of horses Messara has nominated for the Dubai World Cup meeting.

The mare won the Group One Al Quoz Sprint (1000m) in Dubai last year and that race is again on her agenda.

Stablemates Mic Mac and Soft Sand have also been nominated for Dubai.

The injury-plagued Mic Mac is on the comeback trail from a broken leg while Soft Sand is a new acquisition for Messara having previously been prepared by Colin Little in Melbourne.
