The Labor Party candidate for the Wanguri by-election says she doubts the Federal Government's preselection of Nova Perris to top the party's Northern Territory Senate ticket will affect her electoral prospects.
Former Opposition media adviser Nicole Manison has been pre-selected to stand for the Darwin seat.
It was made vacant by the resignation of former chief minister Paul Henderson last week.
Voters have until 8 o'clock tonight to get their names on the electoral roll for the February 16 poll.
Ms Manison says she does not believe Labor's dumping of Senator Trish Crossin in favour of former Olympian Nova Perris has been an issue in Wanguri.
"When I went out (to knock) on the doors last night, that was not a topic that was brought up with me," she said.
"I think local politics here in the Territory is a very different game to federal politics in Canberra.
"The hot topic in town and ... across the Territory is the fact that, since Terry Mills and his Government have come to power, we've seen huge power and water price hikes.
"There is a far different mood in the electorate ... I felt there are a lot of people who are very supportive."
Rhianna Harker is contesting the seat for Country Liberals.
She has served as a chief of the Young Country Liberals.
Ms Harker unsuccessfully stood as a CLP candidate in last year's Northern Territory poll.
