3. Wide of street violence

Egypt's army chief is warning that the state could collapse.

The country is in the midst of another political crisis, with protesters taking to the streets and clashing with police.

The situation became more volatile after the president instituted a night curfew and declared a state of emergency.

The display of contempt for the president's decision is tantamount to an outright rebellion that many worry may spread to other parts of the country.

Already, protesters across much of Egypt are battling police, cutting off roads and railway lines, and besieging government offices and police stations.

At least 60 people have been killed in the fighting.

The U. S. Embassy in Cairo says it's closing public services on Tuesday because of the security situation - this is the second such closure since the violence erupted last week.
