Olympiakos beats Panthrakikos 1-0, extends lead

ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Pablo Contreras' 86th-minute header gave league leader Olympiakos a 1-0 victory over host Panthrakikos in the Greek league Sunday.

PAOK's surprise 1-0 home loss to Xanthi allowed the defending champion to extend its lead to 14 points with 11 rounds to play. PAOK was overtaken in second place by Asteras, which won 3-0 at Platanias.

Panathinaikos won for the first time since Dec. 2, beating host Atromitos 2-1 and climbing three places to seventh. Of Panathinaikos' six wins this season, four have come away from home.

Also Sunday, Giannena beat Veria 2-0.
