A bullet hole has been found in a parked car at a home in Sydney's southwest.

A woman woke up inside her home in Granite Place at around 4.40am (AEDT) on Sunday after hearing a gun shot, police said.

A bullet hole was then discovered in a black car parked in the driveway of the house.

Police said a car was seen travelling north on Emerald Drive moments after the shooting.

Detectives from Macquarie Fields Local Area Command are continuing their investigations with assistance from officers attached to Operation Spartan.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour it call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
