A pilot and two passengers escaped with minor injuries when a seaplane flipped over on Geelong's Corio Bay on Tuesday afternoon.

The plane was coming in to land after a scenic flight when the plane flipped over near Cunningham Pier.

A 63-year-old woman and 79-year-old man were taken to the Geelong Hospital in a stable condition.

Darren Holroyd, who owns a business on the pier, says the plane's occupants were picked up by a passing boat.

"The boat came into the side of the pier here with the pilot and the two passengers that were on board," he said.

"Very wet but I think probably very excited just to escape alive."

A television stuntman has told his Twitter followers that he was about to use the plane in a stunt.
