Man injured in Brisbane assault

A 19-year-old man is in hospital with a fractured eye socket and facial injuries after being attacked with a metal bar in Brisbane's south.

Police say two men demanded his wallet as he walked along McCullough Street in Sunnybank just after 1:30am (AEST).

Three men in a passing car went to his aid, and the offenders fled empty-handed.
