The State Opposition has criticised an environmental training camp in Tasmania's south.

Spokesman Peter Gutwein says January Justice held yesterday near Huonville taught people how to protest against logging operations in the state.

He says participants should instead be helping with the bushfire recovery effort.

"If people have got time on their hands here in Tasmania with nothing better to do than to work out how to shut down Tasmanian businesses they'd be far better spending their time assisting those poor families and individuals that have lost everything as a result of the bushfires," Mr Gutwein said.

The event's organisers have been contacted for comment.
