Australia is expected to field its biggest ever Winter Olympics team in Russia, officials say.

Tonteri, O'Brien earn gold at snowboarding worlds

STONEHAM, Quebec (AP) — Finland's Roope Tonteri and Canada's Spencer O'Brien won gold medals in slope style events at the FIS Snowboarding World Championships on Friday.

Canada's Mark McMorris finished second behind Tonteri in the men's competition at the Stoneham Mountain Resort north of Quebec City. Finland's Janne Korpi was third.

Switzerland's Sina Candrian and Australia's Torah Bright finished second and third in the women's competition.

The slope style event is a new addition to the Winter Olympics, beginning with the 2014 Sochi Games.
