President Barack Obama will nominate Hagel as his next defense secretary, a senior administration official said Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013. The selection of the decorated Vietnam combat veteran sets up a potentially contentious confirmation hearing because Hagel has come under scrutiny from his former colleagues over his positions on Israel and Iran. Fast-moving bushfire in western Sydney
A fast-moving grassfire has broken out in western Sydney.
The fire was reported at Marsden Park near Richmond Road and Garfield Road West shortly before 9pm (AEDT), the RFS says.
An RFS spokeswoman said the fire had moved past the properties and into nearby grassland.
"Crews are on the scene protecting properties but there is no direct threat to properties at this time," she told AAP.
No evacuations had taken place, she added.
By 10pm (AEDT), the RFS reported the fire had been contained.
Richmond Road and Garfield Road West had been reopened, the RFS Facebook page said.
