Firefighter made prank 000 calls: police

An 18-year-old firefighter is accused of making a number of false calls to the triple zero emergency line.

It will be alleged the calls were made to Fire and Rescue NSW between July 31 and December 2.

The calls were reported to police by the Fire & Rescue NSW Zone Commander and an investigation began.

An 18-year-old man, who is a retained firefighter with Fire & Rescue NSW, and went to Young police station on Wednesday afternoon and was arrested.

The local man was subsequently charged with make false calls to an emergency service number and dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception.

He has been granted bail and will appear before the Young Children's Court on February 19.

He was 17 at the time he allegedly made the calls.
