A Cairns woman has been charged with the murder of a baby.
A 37-year-old Smithfield woman has been arrested in relation to the death of an infant in August 10, last year.
She is due to appear before the Cairns Magistrates Court charged with murder on Thursday afternoon.
The arrest comes after a protracted police investigation.
