Some of the biggest names in country music will hold a relief concert for the victims of Tasmania's devastating bushfires.

The concert was conceived by the Wolfe Brothers, a country rock band from Hobart.

The brothers have friends who have been personally affected by the Dunalley fire, which ravaged parts of the Tasman peninsula.

They contacted their management three days ago and offered to host a charity performance at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, in north west New South Wales.

A dozen of Australia's top country music artists have agreed to play at the concert, which will be held during the country music festival later this month.

Nearly all of the artists taking part have won Golden Guitar awards.

All funds raised will go directly to the Red Cross Tasmania 2013 Appeal.

But the welfare agency is examining whether it could be expanded to include those affected by the New South Wales bushfires.
